The Hypochondriac is a whacky, original, satiric piece about greedy aristocrat, Argan, and his strange ambitions to marry his daughter off to a doctor due to his own obsession with health and illness. It takes a village to convince Argan that he has been perhaps consulting the wrong ‘professional’ opinions with respect to his well-being, but, by this point, chaos in the household is well underway.
Between all the singing, dancing, laughing, crying, and gold-digging, you never quite know what is around the corner in this piece – and that’s exactly where all the fun lies. Benj Gibbs as the junior doctor and Monique’s aspiring fiancé stands out for his hilariously awkward delivery, which will leave you in stitches – just hopefully not the kind that requires the medical attention of the questionable doctors that wander this world.
