Cal Halbert is the man behind this show which is on every day until the 31st August without a day off and he works hard with sometimes two shows a day. He first shot to fame as one half of a duo called the Mimic Men on Britain’s Got Talent 10 years ago but has since gone solo and is always in demand for corporate functions, voiceovers and all kinds of gigs ensuring his diary is always packed.
On the day I came to see him he was in fine form, and his audience were well impressed. He can pretty much do anyone on the spot – male or female or even cartoon characters. If that isn’t enough he can do a great car boot opening and closing too! I don’t think he quite got through 101 impressions in an hour but he must have come bloody close and I’m sure no one demanded their money back if he fell short by a couple as they were royally entertained by the loveable Newcastle comedian/impressionist.
His Donald Trump reading a bed time story was simply hilarious and if you ever get to see Cal live demand he does that for you. You won’t be disappointed. In fact he gets his audience to fill in names of people you’d like him to do, and on this performance he didn’t shirk a single one. Such a talented lovely man who is so funny on and off stage and definitely one to see on any visit to the Edinburgh Fringe. A first class act and I can’t wait to see him again.
