Rosie is an extraordinary lady! She gets dog’s abuse on social media from keyboard warriors who can’t stand the fact that she is being given slots on TV “for PC and box-ticking” reasons. She’s top of the list as a gay disabled person when funding is handed out. People have been nasty towards her, but another thing they absolutely cannot stand is the fact that she is so self depricating and turns this nastiness into material for her show and addresses all those subjects head on.
This was my first time of seeing her on stage and I was very impressed. Her comedy timing is out of this world and I found her so funny, as did her audience. Her run included a number of sell-out shows, so for anyone to say no one will come and see her brand of comedy, she can put one middle finger up to them all.
She was so entertaining and she took the piss out of herself all night. It takes a special kind of person with an extraordinary thick skin to bat away any of the nonsense that is written about her. She genuinely is doing so much good for the disabled community – some of whom look up to her with admiration. She knows she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but show me a comedian who crosses all bounderies and is universally liked by everyone. I can wait!
To name her show the way she has tells you a lot about her – and for the record, there was very little I didn’t understand. She gave Fringe Radio a lovely interview at the start of the Fringe and spoke a lot of sense. Do check it out on our programmes feed. I look forward to seeing her again.
