Where on earth do you begin when you’re reviewing a Colin Cloud show? Like Derren Brown shows, you do not want to give anything away to spoil the surprises which run through the evening. So I won’t be doing that, but what I will say is that an hour in the company of Colin is an hour you will remember for the rest of your life!
The fast-paced and incredibly confident Scottish magician is right at the top of his game, commanding a large venue like the Grand at the Pleasance with ease. Everything that happens in the show is going to happen in every show he does – regardless of who the people are in the audience – and there’s nothing you can do to change that!
The ark running through this is extraordinary, the patter of Colin Cloud is first class and I have to give a mention to the production, the sound and the lighting, which is the icing on the cake. It’s dramatic, the attention to detail is superb and when Colin talks to the fourth wall, it works a treat. It shows the extra mile Colin and his team go to to make this show so memorable, and the ending will blow you away.
I’ve already booked up to see the show again later in the run – to observe it from a different perspective – and although I now know what is coming I will be equally as amazed second time around. When a show takes you to the level that you feel so elated when you walk out of the theatre then you know you’ve seen something special.
Colin has recorded an interview with me where he does some close up magic in the studio and I was so privileged to see the great man in action and talk to him about his show and his take on all sorts of things. If you have never seen Colin Cloud perform before you simply must buy a ticket if you can because word of mouth is going to ensure his show will be sold out by the end of the run.
